Learn the moves. Solve it together.

In online mode, either key layout controls your own hero. Touch devices show circular movement joysticks, separate Jump buttons, and smaller Use buttons. Landscape orientation gives the temple more screen space.
Choose a level
Open Campaigns and choose a temple to see its map. Tap or click an available jewel to start that level immediately. Each campaign begins with its available starting rooms. Complete connected levels and the required tutorials to open more jewels; Elements also uses temple and element requirements. On a phone, tap a jewel in the overview or use Explore for larger buttons. Find selected brings the current level into view. With a level focused, arrow keys move between nearby jewels; Enter starts it. Each playable level includes its room guidance below the game.
Fullscreen, music, and sound
On a keyboard, use Fullscreen or press F while playing to expand the game. Touch play opens in an expanded view; its pause menu includes Exit fullscreen to return to the page. Where native fullscreen is unavailable, the game uses an expanded view with touch controls still available. Open Music and sound settings to control music and effects separately, and adjust their volume. Each campaign has its own original soundtrack. Audio begins after your first interaction, pauses when the tab is hidden, and your choices save on this device.
Play on a phone or iPad
Drag the circular joystick left or right to move; keep that finger down and tap the large Jump button with a second finger to jump forward. Release the joystick to stop. On phones, choose Fireboy or Watergirl to switch heroes. Choose Two players to show Watergirl’s blue controls on the left and Fireboy’s orange controls on the right; iPads start with this shared layout. Tap the smaller hand button marked Use near an interactive device. Two people can share these controls on the same screen. Phones work best in landscape. Starting a level opens an edge-to-edge game view. The hero switcher is at the top, the joystick is at the bottom left, and Use and Jump are at the bottom right. The whole room stays visible for both heroes. Open the pause menu for restart, music and sound, level help, the campaign map, or Exit fullscreen.
Connection and saved progress
Connect to the internet to open the game and load its campaigns. Online rooms need an active connection on both devices; if a player disconnects, the room pauses until they reconnect.
Your level progress, personal bests, and sound preferences are saved in this browser. They do not automatically transfer to another device. Clearing this site’s browser data removes local progress and preferences.
How do I play Fireboy and Watergirl online with a friend?
Create an online room and send its invite link to your friend. Each person controls one hero on their own device.
- Open online play. Open the game and choose Play online.
- Create a room. Choose Fireboy or Watergirl, then create a room.
- Invite your teammate. Copy the invite link and send it to your teammate. They open the link to fill the room code, then choose Join room.
- Choose a level. The room creator selects an available level. Play starts when both players are present.
- Keep both players connected. Keep the room creator’s tab open and visible. If either player disconnects, the game pauses. Returning in the same browser session can reclaim the seat.
Seven campaigns
The Forest Temple
Pressure plates respond to heroes and movable weights. Match each switch’s color to its lift or gate. Walk past automatic levers; for other devices, use the on-screen Use button or press E or Enter nearby. Push square blocks to reach higher ledges and roll round weights onto plates. This themed campaign contains 32 levels.
The Light Temple
Light mechanisms link a beam or sensor to a route through the level. Inspect the mirror and switch positions, then coordinate a safe route for both heroes. This themed campaign contains 41 levels.
The Ice Temple
Fireboy slides quickly on ice, while Watergirl moves slowly. Neither hero can jump while standing on ice. Step onto a dry ledge before jumping, and leave room to stop. This themed campaign contains 37 levels.
The Crystal Temple
A portal can change where a route begins and ends. Check the matching destination before entering, then coordinate the next jump with your partner. This themed campaign contains 39 levels.
Elements
Wind and elemental devices change the route through a level. Watch their direction and timing before committing to a jump or asking a teammate to operate a control. This themed campaign contains 39 levels.
Fairy Tales
Drag a fairy to a lamp of the same color. White fairies can power any lamp. Some lamps also need a hero to hold a pressure plate. You can also use the on-screen Use button or press E or Enter near a fairy to send it toward its paired lamp. This themed campaign contains 31 levels.
And Friends
Companion puzzles add helpers to the two main heroes. Use the level’s stated ability and interaction prompt to solve the obstacle, then bring Fireboy and Watergirl to their own exits. This themed campaign contains 36 levels.
Help when something is not working
My hero will not jump. What should I check?
Land on a solid surface, release Jump, then press it again. Holding Jump does not repeat it. On ice, move onto a dry stone edge first. For a forward jump, keep moving left or right while pressing Jump; steering upward on the touch joystick does not jump.
How do I move and jump together on a phone or iPad?
Choose the hero you want to control at the top. Hold the circular joystick left or right with one finger and tap Jump with another. Use is the smaller button beside Jump. In Two players mode, Watergirl uses the left blue station and Fireboy the right orange station. If a touch gets interrupted, lift your fingers and start again. Pause opens help, restart, sound settings, and Exit fullscreen.
Why do the exits not finish the level?
Collect every ring-marked diamond, then put Fireboy inside the orange door and Watergirl inside the blue door at the same time. Touching a door frame or standing at the other hero’s door does not count. Unmarked diamonds are optional; collect them all for a perfect clear.
How can I turn the sound back on?
Open the pause menu, then Music and sound. Turn on the channels you want and raise Music volume or Sound effects volume above zero. Check the game mute control and your device volume too. Tap the game once after loading: browsers may wait for an interaction before allowing audio. Sound pauses while the tab is hidden.
What should we do when an online room pauses or feels delayed?
Keep both game tabs visible and both devices connected. If a player disconnects, return to the room in the same browser session so their seat can reconnect. A stable connection with less competing traffic can reduce delay. If the game reports different versions, both players should refresh the game and create a new room. Online rooms need an active connection; they do not work offline.
How do I retry a stuck room?
Open Pause and choose Restart level, or press R while playing with a keyboard. This restarts the current attempt for both heroes. It does not erase previously completed levels. In online co-op, restart affects your teammate too, so coordinate before retrying.
Questions players ask
Can I play Fireboy and Watergirl alone?
Yes. One person can control both heroes in Same device mode, or two people can share a keyboard or touch screen. Online rooms support two people on separate devices, with each person controlling one hero. Every room still needs both heroes to reach their matching exits.
How many levels are in Fireboy and Watergirl?
This independent adaptation has 255 authored room layouts across 7 campaigns. All 255 rooms have verified completion walkthroughs. Verification means a controls-only simulation reached both exits; it does not mean every room has been tested by a new human player.
Is Fireboy and Watergirl free to play?
Yes. This version is free to play in a modern web browser. No account, purchase, or installation is required. An internet connection is needed to load the game and to play in online rooms.
Is this the official Fireboy and Watergirl game?
No. This is an independent fan-made game developed and maintained by AppsOverFlow, with its own artwork and gameplay implementation. It is not an official release.
Can I play Fireboy and Watergirl online on different devices?
Yes. Choose Play online, create a room, and send the invite link or six-character code to a friend. Each device controls one hero. Keep the room creator’s game open while playing.
How do two people play Fireboy and Watergirl on one keyboard?
Choose Same device. Fireboy uses the arrow keys and Enter; Watergirl uses W, A, D and E. Up or W jumps. Enter or E uses a nearby lever or interactive device.
Can Fireboy go in water, and can Watergirl go in lava?
No. Fireboy survives orange lava but cannot enter blue water. Watergirl survives blue water but cannot enter orange lava. Purple toxic goo is dangerous to both heroes.
Do I need an internet connection?
Yes. Connect to the internet to open the game and load its campaigns. Playing in an online room also needs a connection on both devices. Progress and sound preferences are saved in the current browser.
Can I play on a phone or iPad?
Yes. Phones and tablets show separate colored controls for Fireboy and Watergirl. Drag the circular joystick left or right and tap Jump with another finger. Phones let you switch heroes; choose Two players to share both stations. Use Fullscreen for a larger view; landscape is recommended on phones. Two players can share the screen or use online rooms on separate devices.
