Step-by-step walkthrough

  1. Cross the top stepping stones

Both heroes begin in the upper-left corner. Walk to the edge, then jump right across the small stones above the long purple pool. Fireboy collects the red diamond near the first stone. Watergirl must step left off the last raised stone onto the lower stone to collect the blue diamond beneath the jump arc, then jump right again. Continue to the dry shelf before the upper lava pool.

  2. Board the same counterweight lift

Fireboy crosses the lava to collect its red diamond, then jumps right onto the left of the two hanging platforms. Watergirl collects the blue diamond on the dry approach and jumps across the lava onto that same platform. Keep both heroes on its middle. Their combined weight lowers it while the empty right platform rises.

  3. Ride down, then jump left

Stay together on the descending platform to collect both colors of diamond in the shaft. Near the bottom, jump left onto dry ground before the platform reaches the purple pool beneath it. Fireboy can leave first, then Watergirl follows. Walk left for the red diamond on the bottom floor; Watergirl collects the blue diamond just left of the shaft.

  4. Climb the lower-left bank

Continue left along the bottom floor. Jump over the water pool, then walk to the far-left bank. Jump outward onto its low tip, then jump straight upward before steering right onto the overhanging ledge. Watergirl collects the blue diamond along that ledge. Jump right across the purple pool onto the ascending stone path; Fireboy collects the red diamond above the far side.

  5. Reach the middle lava shelf

Follow the sloping path right and jump back left onto the higher curled ledge above it. Fireboy walks left through the lava for the red diamond. Watergirl jumps left across the lava, then jumps back right to collect the blue diamond above it before jumping left across once more. Both heroes climb the sloping path toward the middle water pool.

  6. Collect the last diamonds near the exits

Watergirl can walk through the middle water pool to collect its blue diamond. Fireboy jumps across that pool toward the dry shelf on its left, collecting the red diamond above the landing. Check that all sixteen diamonds have been collected before finishing.

  7. Finish at the two left-hand doors

Continue left along the middle shelf. Watergirl enters the blue door first on this approach; Fireboy continues farther left to the red door. Either hero may arrive first, and the level finishes once both are at their matching exits.

This route was verified in the game simulation using player controls, required diamonds, and both matching exits. It describes this version’s independently reconstructed room, not an official walkthrough.

How this room’s mechanisms work

  • Moving platform 1

    middle right

The relative weight on its connected platforms drives this platform.

Loading one side of the pulley pair lowers that side and raises the other.

  • Moving platform 2

    lower right

The relative weight on its connected platforms drives this platform.

Loading one side of the pulley pair lowers that side and raises the other.

  • Rolling stone 1

    lower right

Push from the side to start it rolling. Slopes and gravity then guide its motion.

A rolling stone can hold a pressure plate. Follow the walkthrough’s order before releasing stones into their channels.

If you get stuck

Check the unfinished objective

The diamonds in this room are optional. If you only want to finish, bring both heroes fully inside their own matching doors.

A pulley is moving the wrong way

Loading one platform lowers that side and raises its partner. Shift the riders or movable weight as described in the route. A thin lift does not protect you from a dangerous pool when it sinks into the liquid.

You cannot recover safely

Pause and choose Restart level to reset both heroes, diamonds, weights, and switches. Previously completed levels stay saved. Follow the step order before moving a box or releasing a weight.

Level questions

How do you finish The Weighted Descent?

Cross the upper stones, ride the left counterweight lift down together, then climb back through the lower shelves to collect every diamond and reach the left-hand exits. Bring Fireboy to the orange exit in the middle left and Watergirl to the blue exit in the middle left. Both heroes must be at their own doors together. The 16 unmarked diamonds are optional; collect every diamond for a perfect clear.

How many diamonds are required in The Weighted Descent?

16 diamonds: 8 for Fireboy and 8 for Watergirl. None are required to finish. 16 unmarked diamonds are optional collectibles for a perfect clear.

Which hazards are in The Weighted Descent?

2 orange lava pools (upper right and middle center), 2 blue water pools (middle left and lower center), and 3 purple goo pools (upper center, lower center, and lower right). Fireboy can enter orange lava; Watergirl must avoid it. Watergirl can enter blue water; Fireboy must avoid it. Purple goo defeats either hero. If either hero falls into a dangerous pool, both players restart the level.

Does The Weighted Descent need a partner to hold a switch?

There are no levers or pressure plates in this room. Each hero can follow their own route, but both matching exits are still needed to finish.
