Level objective

Bring Fireboy to the orange exit in the middle right and Watergirl to the blue exit in the middle right. Both heroes must be at their own doors together. The 14 unmarked diamonds are optional; collect every diamond for a perfect clear.

Step-by-step walkthrough

  1. Clear the first purple pool

Move to the dry ledge just before the purple pool and jump right. Watergirl should land just beyond its right edge to collect the blue diamond while descending. Follow the icy slope to the dry stone immediately before the blue basin.

  2. Cross the upper basin and take the high diamond

Fireboy jumps from the last dry part of the slope across the blue basin, collecting the red diamond above it. Watergirl walks through the basin for her blue diamond. Both continue right to the raised dry point, then jump toward the right wall. Fireboy collects the high red diamond during this jump.

  3. Return left through the middle passage

Land on the long slope below and move left. Collect the matching diamonds along this descent. Fireboy walks through the orange basin; Watergirl jumps left across it from the dry slope on its right. Continue down the next icy slope to the central dry ledge.

  4. Take each hero’s route down the left side

Fireboy walks left through the broad orange basin for its red diamond, then steps off the far left end and steers right toward the dry bottom floor. Watergirl instead jumps left from the central ledge onto the end of the higher icy shelf, collecting its blue diamond, and moves left off that shelf into the narrow vertical passage.

  5. Land Watergirl on the crate

Keep Watergirl in the left passage until she has fallen below the middle lava shelf. Then steer right onto the crate standing in the bottom lava. Wait for her to land on its top, then jump right to the dry bottom floor. This jump collects the blue diamond above the crate’s right side.

  6. Collect Fireboy’s lower diamonds

Fireboy follows the bottom floor right to collect both low red diamonds. At the right wall, jump left onto the low shelf. Move to its left tip and jump right onto the next shelf for the red diamond. Return off that shelf’s left edge, land on the shelf below, and move right off its end to reach the bottom floor again.

  7. Climb the central icy return

From the dry floor left of the central rising ramp, jump right onto the ramp’s sloping left tip. Watergirl collects the blue diamond there. Follow the connected icy ramp right and upward, collecting the next blue diamond on its flat section. Continue to the red exit’s dry platform; Fireboy can wait at his door.

  8. Jump to the blue exit

Watergirl jumps right from the red door’s platform onto the higher ledge carrying her blue exit. Either hero can finish first. Both exits and all 14 diamonds are reachable without moving the original crate away from its safe landing position.

This route was verified in the game simulation using player controls, required diamonds, and both matching exits. It describes this version’s independently reconstructed room, not an official walkthrough.

How this room’s mechanisms work

  • Stone box 1

    lower left

Walk against its side to push it along its supporting surface.

A box can provide a step, load a counterweighted lift, or hold a pressure plate where the room’s layout allows. Follow the room route before moving it.

If you get stuck

Check the unfinished objective

The diamonds in this room are optional. If you only want to finish, bring both heroes fully inside their own matching doors.

A jump does not start on ice

Move completely onto a dry stone edge, let the hero settle, release Jump, and press it again. Fireboy keeps sliding, so start braking before the edge.

You cannot recover safely

Pause and choose Restart level to reset both heroes, diamonds, weights, and switches. Previously completed levels stay saved. Follow the step order before moving a box or releasing a weight.

Level questions

How do you finish The Frozen Return?

Follow the upper route to the right, descend through the middle passages, then return from the bottom to the two exits. Watergirl uses the original crate as a safe landing above the bottom lava. The complete route collects all 14 diamonds. Bring Fireboy to the orange exit in the middle right and Watergirl to the blue exit in the middle right. Both heroes must be at their own doors together. The 14 unmarked diamonds are optional; collect every diamond for a perfect clear.

How many diamonds are required in The Frozen Return?

14 diamonds: 7 for Fireboy and 7 for Watergirl. None are required to finish. 14 unmarked diamonds are optional collectibles for a perfect clear.

Which hazards are in The Frozen Return?

3 orange lava pools (middle right, middle left, and lower left), 1 blue water pool (middle center), and 1 purple goo pool (upper left). Fireboy can enter orange lava; Watergirl must avoid it. Watergirl can enter blue water; Fireboy must avoid it. Purple goo defeats either hero. If either hero falls into a dangerous pool, both players restart the level.

Does The Frozen Return need a partner to hold a switch?

There are no levers or pressure plates in this room. Each hero can follow their own route, but both matching exits are still needed to finish.

Why can’t I jump from the ice in The Frozen Return?

This level has 24 ice strips. Neither hero can jump while standing on ice. Move onto the dry stone edge first; Fireboy slides farther, while Watergirl moves more slowly on ice.
