Step-by-step walkthrough

  1. Collect the first high diamond above your ridge

Fireboy starts at the upper LEFT and moves RIGHT. Watergirl starts at the upper RIGHT and moves LEFT. Each hero stops beneath the first matching diamond above the low part of the ridge and jumps straight up to collect it. Either hero may go first; the routes mirror each other.

  2. Cross the crest toward the middle

Continue inward up the ridge. Jump from the crest toward the inner tip, collecting the second high diamond. Walk off the inner tip into the central drop and land on the broad middle ridge.

  3. Jump the opposite-element basin

Fireboy follows the middle ridge RIGHT, then jumps over the BLUE basin from its dry bank. Watergirl follows it LEFT, then jumps over the ORANGE basin. Collect the matching diamond above the pool during the jump, and land on the outside bank.

  4. Visit the outer wall and the lower side diamond

Continue toward the outside wall. Jump outward for the high diamond near that wall, then jump INWARD onto the sloping shelf for the lower side diamond. Fireboy does this on the RIGHT; Watergirl does it on the LEFT.

  5. Drop outside and climb the bottom stone steps

Walk outward again and descend along the outside wall to the bottom floor. Turn back toward the center, collecting the low matching diamond beside the stone steps. Make separate jumps up the two stone steps, then onto the first hanging plank. Wait for each landing before jumping again.

  6. Cross all three hanging planks

Fireboy crosses from the RIGHT plank to the MIDDLE plank and then the LEFT plank. Watergirl crosses from LEFT to MIDDLE to RIGHT. Move toward the inside edge before each jump, collect the three matching diamonds above the planks, and keep clear of the purple goo underneath. Riders change the tilt, so a plank your partner has used may be angled.

  7. Recover a missed outer diamond from stone

Jump from the last plank onto the adjacent high stone step. If the matching diamond above that outer plank is still visible, jump back toward it from the stone step and return to the step. Do not rely on the hanging plank staying level.

  8. Take the outside path to your matching exit

Continue outward down the stone steps toward your original side. Collect the last low diamond on the way: Fireboy heads LEFT to the orange door, while Watergirl heads RIGHT to the blue door. The first hero waits inside their door. Both matching exits finish the room; all twenty diamonds earn a perfect clear.

This route was verified in the game simulation using player controls, required diamonds, and both matching exits. It describes this version’s independently reconstructed room, not an official walkthrough.

How this room’s mechanisms work

  • Hanging plank 1

    lower center

Its position responds to the weight and position of riders.

Balance on the hanging plank, then jump to the next dry ledge.

  • Hanging plank 2

    lower center

Its position responds to the weight and position of riders.

Balance on the hanging plank, then jump to the next dry ledge.

  • Hanging plank 3

    lower center

Its position responds to the weight and position of riders.

Balance on the hanging plank, then jump to the next dry ledge.

If you get stuck

Check the unfinished objective

The diamonds in this room are optional. If you only want to finish, bring both heroes fully inside their own matching doors.

You cannot recover safely

Pause and choose Restart level to reset both heroes, diamonds, weights, and switches. Previously completed levels stay saved. Follow the step order before moving a box or releasing a weight.

Level questions

How do you finish The Hanging Descent?

Follow the mirrored upper routes, cross the opposite-element basins, then return across all three hanging planks to your own bottom exit. Each hero has ten optional diamonds. Bring Fireboy to the orange exit in the lower left and Watergirl to the blue exit in the lower right. Both heroes must be at their own doors together. The 20 unmarked diamonds are optional; collect every diamond for a perfect clear.

How many diamonds are required in The Hanging Descent?

20 diamonds: 10 for Fireboy and 10 for Watergirl. None are required to finish. 20 unmarked diamonds are optional collectibles for a perfect clear.

Which hazards are in The Hanging Descent?

1 orange lava pool (middle left), 1 blue water pool (middle right), and 1 purple goo pool (lower center). Fireboy can enter orange lava; Watergirl must avoid it. Watergirl can enter blue water; Fireboy must avoid it. Purple goo defeats either hero. If either hero falls into a dangerous pool, both players restart the level.

Does The Hanging Descent need a partner to hold a switch?

There are no levers or pressure plates in this room. Each hero can follow their own route, but both matching exits are still needed to finish.
